Here's my TGIFreewrite 9/7 - Book as Oracle - response:

    ORACLE

“So little’s changed. My selves go blithely on”
from The Calligraphy Shop, Ben Downing

“forms dew, dampens the sleeper’s hair and skin.”
from Jetty & Other Poems, Talvikki Ansel

Much these days are from my dreams
or the static in my head where voices echo.
Awake, I move in a mist of want, thwarted desire.
Steel and concrete melt into the cover of earth.
Asleep, so little’s changed. My selves go blithely
on as if the sun rises and night falls.
What is the answer to this melding?
A deciphering is needed but in the meanwhile
forms dew, dampens the sleeper’s hair and skin.

You can hear me reading it on my poetry blog, pinacasa:
