We “get” it. Saving some extra cash is a win for you and a win for us: we get you, your presence, your words, at the Summer Conference!
So we’re extending the Early Bird registration deadline to Monday, April 10. To read all about it and to register, click here. Here’s a bird’s-eye view:
Join our flock of writers July 7‒14, 2017, at Muhlenberg College, in Allentown, PA, as we celebrate The Guild’s 40 years of serving the writer in the woman and the woman in the writer—and the soaring flight of both! * * * Speaking of high-flying women writers, MEL RYANE and NINA AYIN REIMER will be teaching at this year’s conference: Raising the Decibel of Women’s Voices with Mel Ryane Your words itch to be written; your words starve to be heard. Your stories have significance. Women’s words matter. This is our time. It is the writer’s voice that attracts agents, editors, and readers. The uniqueness of a voice on the page is often unearthed by that voice on the stage. Our decibels don’t have to be shouted; our decibels, measured artfully, will be heard. This six-day workshop includes: Prompt writing; vocal warm-ups; reading aloud published works; reading aloud your works; one-on-one coaching; wrangling butterflies; and attention to editorial detail. The workshop is designed to help writers discover thematically, technically, and artistically what they have written and wish to write. All genres of writing welcome. Writers who request coaching must bring two hard copies (no laptops or devices, please) of one double-spaced page of their writing, preferably material they have not previously read publicly. Meditate and Create with Nina Ayin Reimer Using meditation to rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit, you will make a small figurine with a variety of materials, using your imagination of character, color, and texture. In-class instruction combined with independent studio time means you can come away with a treasure of your own making, that soothes, enlightens, and gives you the joy of creating art. No experience is necessary. There will be $25 materials fee. |
