Writing His Autobiography is a sweet romance novel, the second for Carol Galusha. Her first young adult novel, The Same Birthday, was published in 2008.
This isn’t your usual, boy-meets-girl story. Light and airy on the surface, the author deftly weaves in numerous pertinent life situations that will touch your heart and invite you to view your own belief systems as to what is really important in your own life. Her characters certainly do that throughout the story and the author takes you all the way through as they process solutions with their thoughts. The author has a unique way of presenting her character’s thoughts and flashbacks utilizing different type fonts to differentiate from the narrative.
Carol Galusha does an “up close and personal” look at Cecelia’s (the main character) seemingly perfect life and relationship with Parker, her current lawyer beau of several years. Although the relationship is sadly lacking in passion and that everlasting love, they are extremely compatible with each other, so they think. Cecelia also has a great career-in-the-making with a major publishing house in New York City. Well, it was perfect until she was assigned to be a ‘ghost writer’ to a has-been rock star and that is where the story and the fun begins.
Carol weaves in Cecelia’s longtime girlfriend, Tracy, and Tracy’s relationship with Melissa, her Mother and her secret new beau, her favorite Uncle who has a crush on a local waitress, and a home town that is bursting with nostalgia and gossip. Add to this mix, Danny Mann, the has-been-rock-star with a very racy life style and you have the third person in the love triangle (or is he?). He always wears sun glasses…
To quote the author: “My goal was to pen a fun, no-brainer romance novel” and that she did… but, she did it with ‘style.'
This is a book to put on your reading list for one that you can just ‘ take your time, relax and enjoy’ reading. This reviewer certainly did! I give it a 4-Star rating!
